New Mexico Wine Tasting.  Sunday, September 17, 2017 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.

We are going to have a "Blind Tasting" of some New Mexico's finest Chardonnay wines.  We will sample, evaluate and then assign a ranking number to 4  wines produced by our state's wine makers.  A horizontal blind tasting is a challenge at best.  The attendees will not know the idenity of the wine makers and will be asked to rank them based on different characteristics like aroma, color, flavor and after taste.  Since we are not wine experts we will not expect opinions like " a hint of blackberry combined with ragweed which lingers with a ginger after taste."   Most of us never experience this type of tasting anyway.  However, if a wine tastes like diesel fuel we probably know that.    Finally, we will ask a ranking from 80 - 100 of each numbered wine and we will average and tabulate the results.  Then, we will finish off any wine that is left, sit around and enjoy the September afternoon in the Manzano foothills.  The hot tub will be open and and we can enjoy this wonderful season in New Mexico.

This event is not a pot-luck so you may want to have lunch at the Greenside Cafe in Cedar Crest or the Ponderosa Cafe on HWY 337 near the turn off to HWY 217.  Another nice lunch place is the Roots Farm Cafe in Tijeras.
